WHAT IS THE CVEF GRANT PROGRAM?
The Cajon Valley Education Foundation’s CVEF grant program awards up to $1,000 per school for the 2009/2010 school year. The CVEF grants provide capital to develop ideas to enrich the student experience. Applications must
address one of our areas of focus:
•Advancement of the Cultural Arts (Music, theater, art & performance areas)
•Library and Media Material Enhancements
• Math/Science/Technology Enrichment Programs
•Fitness and well being, including character building
Grants need to be broad in scope and serve the largest portion of the student population. Grants that
are narrow and serve small numbers of students will be rejected. CVEF grants should be used to
benefit students in the school year received.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
A grant is available for each Cajon Valley Union School District school that applies by the March 15 deadline.

WHAT IS THE CVEF MINI-GRANT PROGRAM?
The Cajon Valley Education Foundation’s grant program will provide up to $500 per for creative projects to support and/or enrich the curriculum. Up to $5,000 may be distributed as part of this competitive grant process. Applications may address any area of the curriculum and should benefit the children in the school year the grant is awarded.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any teacher may apply for a mini-grant for use in his/her classroom. A group of teachers from the same school may also apply for a mini-grant for use either in their classrooms or school wide. If a team applies for a grant, the maximum allotment is still $500.
PROCEDURES FOR EVALUATING AND AWARDING GRANT APPLICATIONS
Each grant is evaluated in a “blind” format by a committee comprised of Cajon Valley Education Foundation Board members. Applications will be read without names or reference to the school from which the grant originated. More than one teacher at a school may receive a grant during the same funding cycle. Since this is a competitive process, grants may not be equally distributed among schools.
The criteria upon which each application is judged include:
- Clear and Understandable Presentation: Is the explanation easy to understand, thorough, and does it adequately explain what the funds will be used to accomplish?
- Impact on Student Learning: Does the project have a strong impact on students’ learning? Will the students be better able to understand the subject matter because of the project?
- Support of the Curriculum: How will this project support the curriculum at the specific grade level of the students involved?
- Innovation and Creativity: Does the project present material or subject matter in a new or creative way?
If the total amount needed to complete this project exceeds the $500 limit, the applicant must clearly show how the additional funds will be secured.
CVEF funds may not be used to pay for furniture, incentives or rewards, salaries or stipends, workshops or conference attendance, or for food/treats (unless the food is part of the unit of study and is an integral part of the activity to support the curriculum).
